New Zealand's performance in the last match
New Zealand registered a strong and comprehensive win over Pakistan in the tournament opener. Notably, their top order struggled, but Will Young and Tom Latham's centuries brought the Kiwis back into the game, all rounder Glenn Phillips promptly provided the final push to take the Men in Black to a challenging total.
Pakistan though, never actually came out to play and were timid in their chase of 321. Babar Azam came under scrutiny for a very slow fifty that actively hindered the chase but Khushdil Shah was able to salvage some pride with his fireworks. New Zealand will walk into this match jubilant, especially on a batter-friendly track like Rawalpindi.
Bangladesh's performance in the last match
Bangladesh showed a good fight against India, but eventually ran out of gas. At one stage, they were reduced to 35/5 after choosing to bat first, but centurion Towhid Hridoy joined hands with Jaker Ali to put up a record stand to provide the middle-overs resurgence. Mohammed Shami though put a stop to proceedings at the death with a fifer.
India captain Rohit Sharma came out swinging in a tricky chase and left early, but Shubman Gill held the fort with a hundred amidst a middle order collapse and saw the chase through in the company of KL Rahul. As a result, Bangladesh are now scampering to stay alive in the tournament while one more win will essentially seal New Zealand's place in the semifinals of the Champions Trophy.
