India asserted their dominance over Group A in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 with a win over New Zealand in the final league stage match of the tournament and topping Group A with 3 wins and no losses in the tournament.

New Zealand's decision to put India in seemed to be paying dividends when India were reduced to 30/3 in the powerplay, but Shreyas Iyer (79 off 98) and Axar Patel brought some stability with a partnership of 98. Iyer fell soon after trying to breathe momentum into the innings, and while Hardik Pandya tried his best to boost the innings at the end, Matt Henry (5/42) kept India to 249 - a total most thought was below par at that stage.

New Zealand's innigs had a steady, albeit slow start to their innings. Kane Williamson (81 off 120) kept the innings together, but none of his partners could make any real contributions as India's spinners led by Varun Chakrvarthy (5/42) stifled the life out of New Zealand's middle and lower orders in a collapse that saw the Kiwis lose their last 6 wickets for just 54 runs.

The result has also ensured that India will face Australia on March 4 in Dubai and New Zealand will take on South Africa in Lahore on March 5 in the semifinal stage of the tournament.
