Champions Trophy 2025: Rohit Sharma second-fastest to 11,000 ODI runs

The second match of the ongoing edition of the Champions Trophy saw Rohit Sharma get to the 11,000-run mark as India clashed with Bangladesh at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Thursday, February 20. He notched up the landmark with a lofted shot off the inside half of the bat off Mustafizur Rahman in the fourth over of the chase.

With this, Rohit became the 10th player in ODI history To get to the coveted landmark. The innings against Bangladesh was Rohit's 261st in the 50-over format. He became the fourth Indian to attain the milestone after Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Virat Kohli. Interestingly, the current Indian skipper took the second-fewest innings to reach to the feat.

India off to positive start in pursuit of 229-run target

As for the match, India held the upper hand in the first powerplay, reducing Bangladesh to 39/5. However, a 154-run sixth-wicket stand between Towhid Hridoy and Jaker Ali anchored their side's ship. Mohammed Shami ended up scalping a five-wicket haul.

Rohit and Shubman Gill started the second innings in quite a positive manner. With the way the chase is progressing, a comprehensive victory is definitely on the cards.
