Islamabad United's batter Colin Munro registered his name in the record books by having the most fifty-plus scores in Pakistan Super League history, breaking South African batter, Rilee Rossouw's record. The New Zealand batter achieved this milestone in style during the Season 10 opener against Lahore Qalandars in Rawalpindi, guiding his team to a comfortable win.
Ahead of the match, Munro was tied with Rossouw at 12 fifty-plus scores. But the left-hander's unbeaten 59 off 42 deliveries not only helped United chase down a target of 140 with ease but also took him past the South African to sit at the top spot in this elite list.
Munro hit seven boundaries and a six in his unbeaten knock. Along with him, Salman Ali Agha’s 43* off 34 balls made sure Islamabad United made a winning start to their title defence with an eight-wicket victory and 14 balls to spare.
Earlier in the match, Islamabad's bowlers, led by debutant Jason Holder (4/26), bundled out Qalandars for just 139 in 19.2 overs. Abdullah Shafique’s 66 was the lone worthy contribution for the side. With this innings, Munro now has 13 fifty-plus scores in just 48 PSL appearances, surpassing Rossouw’s tally of 12 in 84 matches. He also stands ahead of Luke Ronchi and Jason Roy, who each have 10 fifty-plus scores, followed by Shane Watson with nine.
