In the second ODI between England and Australia at Headingley, Leeds, on September 21, England's veteran spinner Adil Rashid registered his name in history books by claiming his 200th ODI wicket.

England skipper Harry Brook called it correctly at the toss and elected to bowl first. The leg spinner's heroic moment came in the 28th over when he dismissed the dangerous Glenn Maxwell. Bowling a full delivery on off stump, Rashid outsmarted Maxwell, who attempted a slog sweep but miscued it, resulting in an easy catch for Jacob Bethell at deep mid-wicket. This wicket not only put Australia on the back foot at 161/6 but also marked Rashid's entry into the elite 200-wicket club in ODIs.

The Yorkshire-born reached this milestone in just 131 innings, making him the third-fastest spinner to do so in ODI history. He now stands alongside spin bowling legends Saqlain Mushtaq (101 innings) and Shane Warne (124 innings) in this prestigious list.

Australia set 271-run target for hosts

Meanwhile, after a good start by Australian openers Matthew Short and Travis Head, who put on 46 runs, the visitor's innings faced regular setbacks. Captain Mitchell Marsh provided some stability with a solid 60 off 59 balls, but wickets continued to fall at regular intervals.

Alex Carey also contributed with the bat scoring a 74 off 67 balls. His innings, included eight boundaries and three sixes, helping Australia post a competitive target of 271. For the hosts, Brydon Carse was the wrecker-in-chief with the ball, picking three wickets. Rashid, Jacob Bethell, and Matthew Potts picked two wickets along with Olly Stone contributing with one scalp.
