How did India perform in Tests, T20Is and ODI cricket in 2022?

Team India concluded its 2022 campaign across all formats with a hard-fought victory in the second and final Test match against Bangladesh as they won by three wickets at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Sunday, December 25.
The side played seven red-ball contests throughout the year against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, South Africa, and England and registered wins on four occasions. In their two Test matches against the Proteas, the Indian side lost both their fixtures and also yielded a loss in the contest against England in England.
Speaking about their outings in the shortest format, the Men in Blue played 40 matches in the entire year which includes their outings in the Asia Cup 2022 and the T20 World Cup 2022 held in Australia. The side registered the most wins against West Indies, having emerged victorious seven times in their eight matches.
Their worst record came in their matches against England and South Africa as they registered a 50% win to loss percentage in 2022. However, the side won 28 matches in its 40 outings with one match yielding no result (vs South Africa) while another was a tie (DLS method) against New Zealand.
In the 50-over format, a total of 24 matches were played by the Indian side of which the side claimed wins in 14 matches with two no results and eight losses in the calendar year. India concluded their ODI campaign in a rather underwhelming fashion as they registered series losses to both Bangladesh and New Zealand in late November and December.
Who scored most runs and picked most wickets for India in 2022
Having been part of the red-ball squad for as many as seven matches, young southpaw Rishabh Pant topped the batting charts in the Test format with 680 runs. His 12 innings included two centuries and four half-centuries and concluded the year at an average of 61.81.
Despite remaining on the sidelines for a good part of the year, pace spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah added 22 wickets in just five matches with his best bowling figures being 5/24 in an innings.
In the One Day format, Shreyas Iyer featured in 17 matches out of which he managed to get 724 runs at an average of 55.69. Iyer became the highest run-getter for the side in the ODI format in the 2022 calendar year. Similarly, Mohammed Siraj, who is on the lookout to cement his spot for the ODI World Cup 2023 has bagged the most number of wickets for the side in ODIs this year with 24 wickets in 15 matches he took part in.
Speaking about the T20Is, one talking point that emerged was how Suryakumar Yadav ‘SKY’ maintained his terrific form throughout the year. The flamboyant right-hander relished some majestic outings, hitting the ball all over the park effortlessly.
SKY amassed 1164 runs, the most by any player this year in 2022 in 31 T20I matches, including two centuries and nine half-centuries. Bhuvneshwar Kumar remained impactful for the side during the year as he racked up 37 wickets in just 31 innings with his best bowling figures being 5/4.
