The biggest match in the Champions Trophy 2025 is set to be played on Sunday, February 23 and there is a lot of hype behind this battle between the two neighbouring nations. The fans and experts will be hoping for another classic between the two sides who are also considered the favorites in the tournament.
India has undeniably been dominant in ICC events against Pakistan, but beyond these encounters, the two sides have faced off numerous times since 1978. While recent matchups between the teams have been limited, there have been some memorable contests in the past. Typically, the teams meet in the Asia Cup or ICC tournaments, but there have also been bilateral series between them, the last of which took place during the 2012-2013 season.

It turns out that despite the dominance of the Men in Blue in ICC events it is Pakistan who holds the advantage against the Indian team in the format. Aside from T20Is, the Green Shirts with an advantage in the other two formats. The ODI World Cup matches have resulted in India’s favour but surprisingly in the Champions Trophy Pakistan just about has an edge over India winning three of the five games played in the tournament.
Head-to-head stats in ODI matches
There might have been some close matches in ODI cricket between the two teams but it turns out it is Pakistan who has a better record in the rivalry matches. The two teams have played each other in 135 matches so far and while India has won 57 matches the Pakistan side has got the better of the Men in Blue on 73 occasions with the other five matches ending in no result.
Speaking of the upcoming game the two will be playing at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday and this will be the 136th time the two will feature in a One Day International (ODI). The last time the two sides faced each other was in the Champions Trophy 2017 when Pakistan destroyed India’s dream of defending the title by thrashing them in the final game.
