ILT20 2025: GG vs SW, Match 3 - Stats preview of players' records and approaching milestones

Franchises Gulf Giants (GG) and Sharjah Warriorz (SW) will open their campaign in ILT20 2025 against each other in the third match of the tournament. The Giants finished third in the 2024 edition after losing both Qualifier 1 and Qualifier 2 while the Warriors finished last. 

Both teams have now made significant moves to improve their fortunes and go one step further to the elusive title. Giants have retained heavyweights like Shimron Hetmyer, Chris Jordan and James Vince while bringing in new signings in the form of Tom Curran and Tymal Mills among others. 

Having retained very few players from last year, Sharjah Warriorz have signed on the most new players of any team this year. New strong signings like Jason Roy, Adil Rashid and Gus Atkinson will join the retained hard hitters like Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Kusal Mendis. Besides, Warriorz have also announced Tim Southee as their Captain.

Meanwhile, speaking of the T20 cricket fest, Dubai Capitals clashed against MI Emirates in the ILT20 opener. The first game turned out to be an absolute nail-biter, thereby setting the tone for the rest of the tournament. In the first match, Capitals held their nerves and edged out Emirates by winning the game by the barest of the margin aka one run on Saturday, January 11.
