Star Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has equaled legendary MS Dhoni's record for most Test centuries by an Indian wicketkeeper. Pant's stunning performance in his comeback Test against Bangladesh in Chennai registered his name in the history books.

Playing a Test after almost two years, the young wicketkeeper did not disappoint, scoring a brilliant 109 off 128 balls in India's second innings. The century, his sixth in Tests, came at a crucial moment when India was looking to consolidate their position in the match.

With the century, Pant has now drawn level with Dhoni's record of six Test hundreds as a wicketkeeper. What makes the achievement even more impressive is the pace at which Pant has reached the milestone. While Dhoni's six centuries came in 144 innings, Pant has managed to equal the record in just 58 innings.

Rishabh Pant ended his innings at 109

He now stands alongside Dhoni at the top of the list for Indian wicketkeepers with the most Test centuries, well ahead of the next best, Wriddhiman Saha, who has three centuries to his name.

Since his debut in August 2018, his six Test centuries are the most by any designated wicketkeeper, surpassing the likes of Quinton de Kock, Litton Das, and Mohammad Rizwan, who are tied at three each.

Pant's century was not just about personal milestones, it was crucial to India's position in the Test match. Coming in at a challenging time with India at 83/3 in their second innings, Pant formed a solid partnership with Shubman Gill. Their 167-run stand not only steadied the ship but also put India in a commanding position, extending their lead to over 500 runs.

Meanwhile, the hosts declared the innings at the score of 287/4, giving the tourists a massive target of 515 with two and half days of play remaining.
