IND vs ENG, 1st ODI: Stats Preview of Players' Records and Approaching Milestones
This series will serve as the final preparation for the Champions Trophy for both teams
After wrapping up a 4-1 series win in the T20Is, Team India (IND) will now host a 3-match ODI series against England (ENG). The first ODI will be played at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, in Nagpur. Both teams suffered setbacks in their most recent ODI series.
Notably, Team India lost 0-2 to Sri Lanka in August while England lost 1-2 to West Indies in October of 2024. Both series losses had come away from. England will also look to improve upon the fact that they haven't won an ODI series in India since 1984.
This match will mark the first time that India and England will play against each other in an ODI since their ODI World Cup 2023 fixture where India won by a staggering 100 runs in Lucknow. The Men in Blue had also won their most recent ODI series against England, in England in 2022. India won by a 2-1 margin after getting home in a thrilling chase in the decider.
This series holds even more significance as it is the last series that the two teams will play before the Champions Trophy, and hence it is one last chance for both teams to lock in their combinations before the marquee event in Pakistan and the UAE.
