After a mostly comfortable win in the first ODI at Nagpur, India and England arrive at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack for the second ODI with vastly different goals. Wrapping up a series win without the pressure of a decider will bode well for India's preparations going into the Champions Trophy, while England will want to improve on their record of not having won an ODI series in India since 1984.

In the first ODI at Nagpur, England started with a bang, even managing a 26-run over, before losing their way in the middle. India's bowlers put England in a stranglehold that even two lower order fifties could not save them from. Phil Salt had started with a quick fifty, but Ravindra Jadeja and Harshit Rana brought India back to restrict England.

India's chase though, wasn't the smoothest thing ever. India lost both their openers early, but that did not faze Shreyas Iyer who replied with a counter-attacking fifty to put India in control. Shubman Gill and Axar Patel also played a hand with a crucial stand and fifties of their own, and even though India had a mini-collapse towards the end, the chase was through.

The Cuttack surface also leans into being easier to chase on and in general low-scoring with more help for spin than pace. Conditions like those might actually play into India's hands.
