IND vs ENG 2025: Arshdeep Singh becomes highest wicket-taker for India in T20Is with scalps in successive overs
Ahead of the ongoing series opener against England, Arshdeep was the second-highest wicket-taker for India.
Arshdeep Singh became the leading wicket-taker for India in T20Is after striking twice within his first couple of overs in the first T20I of the five-match series against England at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. He was on 95 dismissals ahead of the series opener. Yuzvendra Chahal was leading the charts with 96 wickets.
The left-arm pacer was quick to get amongst the wickets. The very first over of the game saw Arshdeep pinpoint with his channels, in addition to generating considerable movement through the air. This further magnified his numbers in the powerplay as well. Since Arshdeep's debut, no one has taken more wickets than him inside the first six overs of the opposition's innings (42 wickets in 60 innings).
The third delivery of the game shot up awkwardly on Phil Salt off a short-of-a-length, with the batter only managing to get a leading edge to Sanju Samson. Ben Duckett's wicket in Arshdeep's very next over made him the forerunner for India in the format.
Below is the list of leading wicket-takers for India in T20Is:
Player | Innings | Wickets |
Arshdeep Singh | 61 | 97* |
Yuzvendra Chahal | 79 | 96 |
Bhuvneshwar Kumar | 86 | 90 |
Jasprit Bumrah | 69 | 89 |
Hardik Pandya | 98 | 89 |

Chakravarthy's two-wicket over intensifies England's misery
England were relatively well-placed after the seven-over mark with 61 on the board, despite their openers departing cheaply. However, it was Varun Chakravarthy's second over which set the visitors on the backfoot.
Harry Brook and then Liam Livingstone had their furniture disturbed in the span of three deliveries. The latter's dismissal, in particular, was an absolute peach of a delivery. At the time of writing, England were 74/4 at the halfway mark with the hosts on top.
