After beating Afghanistan (AFG) comfortably by a six-wicket margin in the opening T20 international in Mohali, Team India (IND) now faces them in the second of the three-match series. The clash is scheduled to be played on a Super Sunday, January 14, at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. The third and final game will take place on Wednesday, January 17, at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.

Talking in detail about the opening T20I, the tourists batted first and posted a decent total of 158/5 on the board in their allotted 20 overs. Veteran and experienced campaigner Mohammad Nabi top-scored for his team with his innings of 42 off 27. Openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran scored 23 and 25 runs respectively while talented all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai amassed 29 off 22.

Spinner Axar Patel was the pick of the Indian bowlers for his spell of 2/23 in four overs. In reply, India captain Rohit Sharma got run out for a duck while his opening partner Shubman Gill scored 23 off 12. But the star of the show was Shivam Dube who remained not out on 60 off 40 which included five fours and two maximums. Wicketkeeper batter Jitesh Sharma also played a useful cameo of 31 off 20. In the end, it was an easy victory for the hosts as they took a 1-0 lead in the series. The Afghans will look to put on a better show this time around and level the series 1-1 heading into the decider in Bangalore.
