India vs Australia, 3rd ODI 2023: Stats Preview of Players' Records and Approaching Milestones
Australia has now lost their five one-day international matches on the bounce
After winning the opening two one-day internationals in Mohali and Indore, India now face Australia in a dead rubber in Rajkot. The series' third and final match is scheduled for Wednesday, September 27, at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. This will be the last competitive international game for both sides before heading into the World Cup.
Speaking about the last encounter, the Men in Blue dismantled Australia’s bowling attack as they registered their highest total of 399/5 against them in the ODI format. The home side batted first on a flat, batting-friendly deck and took the Aussie bowlers to the cleaners. Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer smashed their respective centuries, while skipper KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav struck their half-centuries.
Cameron Green had a forgettable outing with the ball as he leaked 103 runs for two wickets in his ten-over spell. In reply, destructive opener David Warner and all-rounder Sean Abbott scored 53 and 54 runs, respectively, while the rest of the batting line-up failed to deliver. Gill, Mohammed Shami, and Shardul Thakur have been rested for the final game, while regular skipper Rohit Sharma, star batter Virat Kohli, and spinner Kuldeep Yadav return to the fold.
The visitors will look to avoid a whitewash and claim a consolation victory before the start of the marquee tournament while the hosts would hope to continue their solid form that will give them more confidence ahead of the blockbuster event.
