India vs Bangladesh 1st Test, Day 4 Stats Review – Ashwin becomes oldest player to score century, take fifer in a Test match
For the first time in their 92-year-old Test cricket history, India has more wins than defeats.
In the first Test held at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, India defeated Bangladesh by 280 runs. Bangladesh continued their innings from Day 3 where they were 158/4. It was only a matter of time before Ravichandran Ashwin returned to bowl and that saw Bangladesh getting all out soon.
Ashwin took his 37th five-for in Tests, equalling the joint second-most five-fors by a bowler in Test Cricket. Bangladesh looked promising in this innings compared to the first. Their skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto 82(127) finally came back to form, scoring a fifty after 11 innings. He was looking good and was eyeing a ton but was dismissed by Ashwin. Not too long after, Bangladesh was bundled out for 234 and India won the match by 280 runs.
