The threat of rain was looming over the third and final T20I of the series between Team India (IND) and Bangladesh (BAN), in Hyderabad for the entire day. But the rain gods decided to keep the clouds at bay during the match and delivered a box office clash.

Notably, the hosts won the toss and elected to bat first, and were at it straight away. Opener Abhishek Sharma fell early, but Sanju Samson (111 off 47) and Suryakumar Yadav (75 off 35) tore into the Bangladesh bowling with a flurry of shots all over the ground on a batting-friendly track. Samson even hit five sixes in a single over off Rishad Hossain. After the two had put up 173 in just 11 and a half overs, Riyan Parag (34 off 13) and Hardik Pandya (47 off 18) joined hands to give India a late flourish that saw them put up 297/6.

Bangladesh never looked like they had a chance in the game. Parvez Hossain Emon got dismissed on the first ball of the run chase and it all fell apart. The visitors kept losing wickets at regular intervals, but Litton Das (42 off 25) and Towhid Hridoy (63* off 42) salvaged some pride for themselves. Most of the damage from Team India's side was done by Ravi Bishnoi (3/30) and Mayank Yadav (2/32) with Varun Chakravarthy also chipping in an economical performance, albeit wicketless.

Meanwhile, here are the most important stats from the 3rd IND vs BAN T20I:

2 - Sanju Samson became the second Indian player to hit five or more sixes in a single over in T20Is after Yuvraj Singh who famously hit six in an over.

2 - For an innings of a minimum of 100 runs for India, Samson's strike rate of 236.17 is the second highest.

19 - Sanju Samson's century was the 19th for India in T20Is, the next best by any team is 12 by New Zealand.

3 - Samson's eight sixes in this innings are the joint third-most by an Indian in T20Is. There is just one instance each of an Indian player hitting 10 and 9 sixes in a T20I innings, but there were four instances of 8 sixes before Samson.

15.04 - The run rate of the partnership between Samson and Suryakumar Yadav is the highest by a full-member pair for a partnership of a minimum of 150 runs.

2 - India's total of 297/6 is the second-highest team total not just in T20Is, but in all T20s as well. The record is Nepal's 314 against Mongolia in 2023. India's total is the highest by a full-member nation in T20Is.
