Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma, entered an elusive list of cricketers during the run-chase in the second ODI of the three-match series against England. Notably, the game is being hosted at the Barabati Stadium, in Cuttack.
Opting to bat first, England racked up 304, in a bid to stay alive in the series. Ahead of the Indian innings, Rohit was only 22 runs behind the legendary Rahul Dravid to surpass his ODI numbers. A majestic maximum over long-off enabled him to get past Dravid. Notably, Dravid finished his ODI career with 10,889 runs in 344 ODIs.
Before India's response, Rohit stood at a tally of 10,868 runs in 266 ODIs (including games played for Asia XI and ICC World XI). At the time of writing, Rohit has scored 19 more tons than Dravid (31 vs 12). The all-time list is topped by Sachin Tendulkar, who has amassed 18,426 runs in 463 ODIs. Amid a lean phase with the bat, former Indian batting coach, Sanjay Bangar, had earlier commented on what Rohit should be focusing on after taking a back-seat from overexerting himself in the nets.
"A phase has come in his career where he hasn't scored runs. Sometimes, practicing too much isn't beneficial. He can probably spend a little time alone and watch the phase where he enjoyed a lot of success. Watch some videos and figure out what his habits and routines were. Sometimes, all those things prove hugely beneficial if you have to regain your rhythm. You have to remind yourself what works for you. He shouldn't be too desperate in his thinking," stated Bangar in a conversation with Star Sports.
India require 305 to seal ODI series
Speaking of the ongoing second ODI, Team India skittled England for 304 with one delivery to spare. Ben Duckett and Joe Root scored 65 and 69, respectively. Other than their knocks, there was not much to speak apart from Liam Livingstone's 32-ball 41-run knock.

Ravindra Jadeja proved to be the most economical bowler for the hosts once again, ending up with figures of 3/35 in his 10-over quota. Besides Axar Patel, all four of the Indian bowlers excluding Jadeja picked a wicket apiece.
