After winning the fourth Test and sealing the five-match series 3-1 in Ranchi, Rohit Sharma, and his Team India now face Ben Stokes’s England side in the fifth and final game of the series. The dead rubber is all set to be played on Thursday, March 07th, 2024, at the picturesque Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.

Speaking in detail about the Ranchi fixture, England’s most reliable and star batter Joe Root finally struck form as he smashed 122. Courtesy of his knock, the home side posted a total of 353 on the board in their first innings. In reply, young opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal continued his solid form as he hit 73. But the star of the innings was wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel who amassed 90 off 149 with six fours and four maximums.

Thanks to Jurel, the home side reached a total of 307 in their first innings. The Indian spinners then spun their web as they dismantled England’s batting line-up. Ravi Ashwin picked up a five-wicket haul while Kuldeep Yadav snared four scalps. The visitors got bundled out cheaply for a mere 145 in their second innings. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill hit their respective half-centuries while Jurel remained unbeaten on 39 as India sealed the deal by five wickets. For his contributions in both the innings, Jurel won the Player of the Match award. Stokes and his team will look to avoid a scoreline of 4-1 and claim a victory here to make it 3-2.
