India vs New Zealand, 1st ODI Stats Preview: Players records and approaching milestones

India after registering a clean sweep (3-0) in the recently concluded ODI series at home against Sri Lanka will now lock horns with New Zealand in a three-match ODI series starting January 18 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. 

India thoroughly dominated the series with Rohit Sharma at the helm. Virat Kohli, in particular, was phenomenal with the bat as he scored two centuries in the series and walked away with the Player of the Series award. Other than Virat the other player who really stood out from India's camp was Mohammed Siraj.

Siraj was phenomenal with the ball in the third ODI at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram as he bagged a four-fer and ended up with career best ODI figures of 4/32.

New Zealand, on the other hand, will be high on confidence after defeating Pakistan in the latter's backyard after 47 years and would be looking to register their first ODI series win on Indian soil. They were clinical in the ODI series against Pakistan and won a nail-biting third ODI courtsey of an impactful knock from Glenn Phillips.

New Zealand are also supremely confident but will dearly miss their big guns in regular skipper Kane Willaimson and veteran seamer Tim Southee as they have been rested for the tour and flew back to New Zealand after the culmination of the Pakistan series. 

They will be led by Tom Latham, who has a decent captaincy experience and a lot will ride on his shoulders. The first game of the three-match ODI series is expected to be a cracker of a contest.
