Mohammad Rizwan’s spectacular T20 form continued as he struck 71 off 51 with six fours and two maximums to help Pakistan in chasing down the target of 182 against India in Match 2 of the Super 4 round in Asia Cup 2022. Mohammad Nawaz was another star performer for the Men in Green as the all-rounder took 1/25 in his four-over spell and then hammered a quickfire 42 off just 20 which included six fours and two sixes to clinch a five-wicket victory for his side.

Speaking about how the second match between the two sides in this competition went by, captain Babar Azam won the toss and opted to field first. Skipper Rohit Sharma and his opening partner KL Rahul scored 28 each but it was Virat Kohli again who continued his recent good form. The right-handed batter amassed 60 off 44 with no other batter contributing much in the innings. Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant made 13 and 14 respectively while the hero from the last match against Pakistan, Hardik Pandya bagged a two-ball duck. Courtesy of Kohli, India reached 181/7 in 20 overs. Shadab Khan was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan for his spell of 2/31 in four overs.

Chasing 182, Babar’s poor run in this tournament stretched as he got out for just 14. Fakhar Zaman got dismissed for 15 but Rizwan kept going. Nawaz, who came in to bat at no. four proved to be the turning point for his blitz innings. Arshdeep Singh dropped a dolly of a catch of Asif Ali when he was on zero. The power-hitter then scored 16 off eight as the Men in Green sealed the deal. Like Sri Lanka, Pakistan also opened its account in the Super 4 round. For his all-round show, Mohammad Nawaz grabbed the Player of the Match award.
