David Miller’s spectacular century ended up in a losing cause as South Africa got beaten in the second T20I by a 16-run margin in a high-scoring clash in Guwahati. The swashbuckling batter smashed his second century in T20 internationals while Quinton de Kock also scored 69 but it wasn’t enough to chase down the massive target of 238 set by the Indians. The third T20I is the dead rubber now that will take place on Tuesday, October 04, 2022, at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore.

Speaking more about the rest-fest encounter, the hosts India batted first with KL Rahul and skipper Rohit Sharma sharing a 96-run opening stand. The former struck 57 off just 28 and looked at his best after recent criticism regarding the strike rate. The Man in Golden form Suryakumar Yadav played yet another destructive knock of 61 off just 22 which included five fours and as many maximums. Virat Kohli also remained not out on 49 to post a massive score of 237/3 for his side.

Miller’s onslaught and de Kock’s fifty went in vain as the visitors lost their first T20I series on Indian soil in four attempts. The Indore match will be the final time the Men in Blue will be in action before the T20 World Cup which is slated to begin next month in Australia. Ahead of the final clash, the home side has decided to rest batters Virat Kohli and KL Rahul with Shreyas Iyer expected to slot in the playing XI. The tourists will look to avoid a clean sweep while India would hope to whitewash the Proteas and gain more confidence before the mega event.
