India ended their 2024 campaign in the T20Is with a resounding 3-1 victory over South Africa in an away series. Throughout the year, India won every series in the shortest format that they played, including enjoying an unbeaten run to the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA.

India dominated all types of opposition throughout the year, losing only two matches in the entire year. The year also saw a new generation of players take guard for India following the retirements of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja following the conclusion of the T20 World Cup. Suryakumar Yadav then took charge as full-time captain and has been leading what looks like a near-invincible outfit.

The Men in Blue's dominance in this format can be attributed to the depth of talent in their ranks, as different players stepped up at different times to keep the world champions soaring above all other teams.

Here are the top stats that highlight India's golden run in T20Is in 2024:

24 - The number of T20Is India won in 2024 out of the 26 matches they played. It is the second-highest number of matches won by a full member team in a single calendar year in T20Is, behind the 28 matches won by India themselves in 2022.

92.31 - India's win-percentage in T20Is in 2024 having won 24 matches out of 26. Among full-member teams that played a minimum of 20 matches in a single calendar year, this win percentage is the best by a large margin. The Indian team also holds the second and third places on this list.

9 - The number of times India posted totals above 200 in T20is in 2024. This is the highest number that any team has managed in any year. India are also on second place in this list with a total of seven 200+ totals in 2023.

7 - The number of individual centuries for India in the shortest format this year. This is once again the highest number for any team in any year. India hold the second and third spots here as well, with 5 in 2023 and 4 in 2022 respectively.

7 - The number of century partnerships for India in T20Is this year. This is the joint most by any team in any year alongside Pakistan in 2021 and India in both 2022 and 2023.

12 - India's unbeaten run to the T20 World Cup back in June also marked a 12-match winning streak for India in T20Is going back to the end of 2023. 12 consecutive wins by a team in T20Is is the joint-most by a full member team with Afghanistan achieving the streak in 2018/19 and India in 2021/22. Notably, Afghanistan had a streak of 11 wins in 2016/17 but had not been awarded full member status at the time.

11 - After losing the first T20I against Zimbabwe, India went on an unbeaten run of 11 T20is before losing the second T20I against South Africa. This streak marked India's third run of 10 or more consecutive wins in the format. Afghanistan is the only other full member team to have even one such streak.

236 - The number of sixes hit by India in T20Is this year. It is the second best by any team in any year behind India's own 289 in 2022. At the time of writing, West Indies have 201 sixes in 2024 with 5 matches to go and may overtake India.

2 - India have put up 2 team totals in excess of 250 in T20Is this year, which is the joint most by any team in a single year. Both Japan and Zimbabwe also put up 2 totals above 250 this year, but all of those totals were against Associate teams, while both of India's totals came against full members.

3 - India's carnage against South Africa in the fourth T20I marked the third time that India had hit 20 or more sixes in their batting innings in T20Is, which is the most. West Indies follow with 2 instances. India also became the first team to do it twice in one year.
