Lucknow Super Giants square (LSG) off against Delhi Capitals (DC) in Match no.3 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) on a doubleheader Super Saturday, April 01, 2023, at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. The two sides will meet only once in the league stage of the sixteenth edition of the IPL.

Last year, LSG in their maiden campaign, managed to reach the Playoffs under the leadership of KL Rahul. They lost by a margin of 14 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the eliminator clash in Kolkata. Overall, the new franchise impressed everyone with nine victories in 14 league-stage matches. On the other hand, DC finished fifth in the points table and missed out on a place in the final four.

They have already suffered a massive setback before the season as their regular skipper Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury. Aussie David Warner is set to lead the side this year in Pant’s absence. They have added some new faces to their squad like Rilee Rossouw, Phil Salt, and Manish Pandey. LSG invested heavily in securing the services of Nicholas Pooran for a whopping amount of INR 16 crores. Having never lifted the trophy before, DC will look to end its title drought this campaign by beginning the season with a victory.
