The coveted Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) clash now is between the team that broke their own record, one which they set earlier this season, for the highest team total in IPL history in their last match, and the team which in their latest match, inflicted the only all out below 100 on the opposition, at a stadium where no match has happened in the ongoing season of the cricket extravaganza. 

Delhi Capitals (DC) will be hosting the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in what will be the first match in IPL 2024 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Delhi had earlier played two designated home matches at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam, where they won and lost one match each.

In their last match, which was at Ahmedabad, DC skittled Gujarat Titans (GT) out for just 89 and chased down that target in less than 9 overs, which gave a significant boost to their NRR and helped them rise to 6th place on the points table. 

Sunrisers Hyderabad who with four wins from six matches are 4th on the points table, broke their own record for the highest team total in IPL history at Bengaluru against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). SRH will be invigorated by that display and will hope to potentially put up something even further as Travis Head recently remarked.

This is only the first game at this stadium in the IPL so it will be difficult to say how exactly the pitch will behave, but Delhi has generally been batting-friendly with a semblance of help for the bowlers and a two-paced nature. More will be known only after the match.

Across 3 innings, the hard-hitting South African batter Aiden Markram has scored 31 runs in 18 balls at a strike rate of 172.22 without being dismissed. Hence, it will be interesting to see the see-saw battle of the Protea and Kuldeep spin magic in the middle phase of the game.

Travis Head coming off scoring the fourth fastest hundred in IPL history will be the man SRH turn to for their aggressive needs at the start. He will especially need to counter the threat possibly being posed by Ishant Sharma and Mukesh Kumar as well.
