Sixth-placed Delhi Capitals (DC) will be hosting second-placed Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi in Match 56 of IPL 2024. DC currently have 10 points from 11 matches, while RR have 16 points in 10 matches. Both teams will want to win this match after respective setbacks.
Delhi Capitals' last match was against KKR in Kolkata where batting first they fell into a hole there was no digging out of. It was bad enough that Kuldeep Yadav had to top score for them, but it became worse when an onslaught led by Phil Salt helped KKR chase the meagre target of 153 in less than 17 overs.

Rajasthan Royals' last match was also an away game against SRH in Hyderabad. This match was one chock full of twists and turns that ultimately ended in defeat for RR. Travis Head and Nitish Kumar Reddy scored the fifties, and with the help of Heinrich Klaasen's late flourish, SRH crossed the 200 mark. RR lost both Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson in the first over, but that did not deter Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag from putting up a partnership of 134 coupled with some shoddy fielding. Near the death overs, Pat Cummins and T Natarajan produced a phase where RR lost four wickets in six overs for 57 runs, leaving Bhuvneshwar Kumar to defend 13 off the last, which he successfully did when he trapped Rovman Powell in front of the last ball leading SRH to a on run win.
At the reverse fixture in Delhi, Riyan Parag almost single-handedly arrested a powerplay collapse and with some support from the lower middle order, posted a target of 185. David Warner and Tristan Stubbs scored 40's of their own, but it wasn't enough to prevent RR from winning by 12 runs.
RR's agonising loss to SRH had come after a streak of four consecutive wins, so RR will be extremely keen to get back to winning way and possibly win all their four remaining group stage matches. DC are in a tricky situation where they need to look at ways to improve their NRR. They are currently on 10 points, but there are currently three other teams on 12 points, DC could win this game and match them in points, but their Net Run Rate is the worst of the four teams. So DC could be in a four-way deadlock without changing their position in the points table at all.

Arun Jaitley Stadium Pitch Report:
Three matches have been held here in this year's IPL and in these six innings, the lowest score has been 199. DC have posted totals over 220 in each of their last two matches here, but could only win both the matches by a narrow margin. There is no reason this should change. Another high-scoring exchange should be expected here.

DC vs RR Strategies & Match-ups:
DC will be confident about their chances of following the same template as their last two matches here where they put up high totals and got away very closely. But this may not work against RR who have chased 224 in this season before. RR's bowling has also been in form so DC may need to take that away from the contest and make it a bat-on-bat contest. The important matchups for this match are Jos Buttler vs Khaleel Ahmed, Rishabh Pant vs Yuzvendra Chahal, Rishabh Pant vs R Ashwin, David Warner vs Trent Boult, Jake Fraser-McGurk vs Sandeep Sharma.

X-Factors for DC vs RR:
Delhi Capitals:
On a surface expected to be batting-friendly, the in-form Jake Fraser McGurk will provide the impetus that Delhi's batting severely needs. His form will be crucial to Delhi's success with the rest of their top order blowing hot and cold.
Rajasthan Royals:
On a flat pitch, RR's chances will hinge on Jos Buttler, arguably the best T20 opener of this era. His century orchestrated RR's successful chase of 224 and he holds the key to RR's success in this match.
