IPL 2025: What records could CSK break if they win title?

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been one of the most successful franchises in the storied history of the Indian Premier League. Season after season, they have assembled a robust unit that has more often than not posed a significant threat to all of the other participating teams. Their auction strategy has been top-notch too.

The Men in Yellow have almost always maintained a fine balance of experience and youth in their roster. The string of seasoned campaigners in their squad has combined seamlessly with the exuberance of the youngsters to put in impactful performances across seasons. Consequently, this has resulted in CSK winning five titles up until now - in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023, respectively.

The previous edition saw CSK narrowly miss out on the playoffs, courtesy of an inferior net run rate than the side who finished fourth on the points table. CSK had quite a stellar mega auction ahead of IPL 2025, making the 18th edition of the cash-rich league one to keenly look forward to. They integrated a host of prominent players into their setup and would be eager to increase their trophy count by one by the end of the 20-over spectacle.

IPL 2025: What records will CSK break if they win the title?

1. CSK to surpass MI to become most successful franchise in IPL history

As mentioned above, CSK have won the title on five separate occasions. Mumbai Indians have won as many editions of the IPL as CSK, claiming silverware in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020. If CSK manage to go all the way in IPL 2025, they will overtake MI to become the franchise with the most amount of tournament victories.

2. CSK will become the first team to clinch three IPL titles across both decades

CSK already have the title wins from 2021 and 2023 in the bank. If they emerge victorious in 2025, they will become the first side in the history of the tournament to have won triumphed thrice across both the decades (2010s and 2020s).

3. CSK to become team with most number of titles in a T20 league 

With their sixth triumph in the IPL, CSK will emerge as the team with the most number of titles in a particular T20 competition (six). No other side has won as many as six titles in a particular T20 competition.
