IPL 2025: CSK vs KKR, Match 25: Stats Review of player records and achieved milestones
For the first time in IPL history, CSK has lost five consecutive matches
In the 25th match of the 2025 Indian Premier League, held at Chepauk, Chennai Super Kings suffered a one-sided defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders, losing by 8 wickets. This marked CSK's fifth consecutive loss in the tournament — a first in the franchise's IPL history.
KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and opted to bowl first, a decision that paid immediate dividends. CSK’s batting order collapsed yet again, mustering just 103 for 9 in their 20 overs. Apart from Shivam Dube (31* off 29) and Vijay Shankar (29 off 21), none of the batters could settle in. Harshit Rana (2/16), Sunil Narine (3/13), and Varun Chakaravarthy (2/22) ensured constant pressure on the struggling CSK lineup.
In reply, KKR made a mockery of the modest target. Sunil Narine blazed his way to 44 off 18 balls with two fours and five sixes, while Quinton de Kock smashed 23 off 16. Ajinkya Rahane (20*) and Rinku Singh (15*) calmly finished the chase in just 10.1 overs, sealing a dominant victory for the visitors.
CSK’s bowlers looked toothless, with Anshul Kamboj picking up the only two wickets to fall. Jadeja's solitary delivery leaked 10 runs, summing up CSK’s nightmarish outing.
This defeat leaves Chennai languishing at the bottom of the points table, with just 2 points from 6 games and a worrying net run rate of -1.554. KKR, meanwhile, climbed to third place with their third win in six matches and a positive NRR of +0.803.
