Delhi Capitals (DC) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will start their Indian Premier League 2025 campaigns in Match No. 4. Notably, both the franchises enter this season with new-look squads and fresh expectations.
They failed to make the playoffs in IPL 2024, missing out due to net run rate. They then made significant personnel changes at the mega auction in 2025, with one of the most notable being a captaincy swap. Rishabh Pant, who captained DC until 2024, will now be leading LSG, while KL Rahul, who led LSG until last year, will be a part of Delhi.
Capitals have taken a different approach to leadership, handing over the reins to Axar Patel and appointing the experienced Faf du Plessis as his deputy. The Delhi-based team has also had to deal with Harry Brook pulling out of the tournament at the last minute but has yet to name a replacement for him.
