Match 30 of the IPL 2025 (Indian Premier League) saw a nail-biting clash between the hosts, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The visitors emerged victorious by five wickets, chasing down 167 with three balls to spare. After winning the toss, captain MS Dhoni opted to bowl first at Lucknow’s home ground—a decision that paid off.
LSG posted a competitive total of 166/7 in their 20 overs. Mitchell Marsh led the charge with a composed 30 off 25 balls. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, captain Rishabh Pant (63 off 49) added valuable runs. Ravindra Jadeja’s disciplined spell (3-0-24-2) and Pathirana’s late strikes helped restrict LSG from accelerating in the death overs.
Chennai’s chase was powered by an aggressive start from Shaik Rasheed (27 off 19) and Rachin Ravindra (37 off 22). Shivam Dube played a crucial role in the middle overs, scoring 43 off 37 balls. The match tilted slightly in LSG’s favour after a flurry of wickets, but the ever-reliable MS Dhoni once again turned back the clock. Coming in at a pressure moment, Dhoni blasted an unbeaten 26 off just 11 deliveries, sealing the win with his trademark calmness.
Dhoni was named Player of the Match for his match-winning cameo, becoming the oldest player in IPL history to receive the award. His leadership and finishing prowess proved decisive, as CSK climbed the points table with this hard-fought victory.
