The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) head into their sixth match of the season riding high on confidence after edging out the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in a nail-biting thriller at Eden Gardens. LSG clinched a narrow 4-run victory in a high-scoring encounter.
Nicholas Pooran was the standout performer, hammering an unbeaten 87 off just 36 balls, while Aiden Markram provided solid support with a fluent 47 off 28. Mitchell Marsh also made a significant impact, smashing 81 from 48 deliveries as the trio dismantled the KKR bowling attack. In response, LSG’s bowlers held their composure in the face of a determined KKR chase. Although Akash Deep and Shardul Thakur conceded over 13 runs per over, they picked up vital wickets. Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi chipped in with one wicket apiece to help seal the win.
Meanwhile, the Gujarat Titans (GT) enter their upcoming clash against LSG with momentum on their side following a dominant 58-run win over the Rajasthan Royals in Ahmedabad. GT posted an imposing 217/6, which proved insurmountable for the Royals.
Sai Sudharsan led the charge with a commanding 82 off 53 balls, peppered with 8 fours and 3 sixes at a strike rate of 154.72. Despite an early setback with Shubman Gill departing for just 2, GT's middle order stepped up. Jos Buttler added a quick 36 off 25, Shahrukh Khan blazed a 36 off 20, and Rahul Tewatia finished strong with an unbeaten 24 from just 12 balls, including two towering sixes.
GT’s bowling unit backed up the batting heroics with a disciplined effort. Mohammed Siraj kept things tight with figures of 4-0-30-1, while Prasidh Krishna impressed with 3 wickets for just 24 runs in his four overs. Rashid Khan also struck twice, despite being slightly expensive.
