Royal Challengers Bengaluru are sitting pretty at third place on the points table in IPL 2025. Now, they return to a ground that has been their Achilles heel in the tournament - RCB have lost all three matches at their home ground, the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in IPL 2025. That is where they will play Rajasthan Royals in Match No. 42 of the tournament.

RCB have won five matches out of eight so far, including their most recent one - against PBKS in Mullanpur. Punjab's openers were blazing away in the powerplay before RCB found a way back as Krunal Pandya removed both PBKS openers in quick succession and Suyash Sharma took two wickets in an over to acclerate the downward slide. PBKS' middle-order collapsed and while they did not lose wickets at the death, they just could not put up enough runs.

During the chase, RCB lost Phil Salt early but Devdutt Padikkal razed down the small target with Virat Kohli playing the second fiddle. Once Padikkal left, Kohli took proceedings over to steer RCB to their fifth win in as many away games.

Royals, though, sit at eighth place on the points table and are now on a four-match losing streak. Their last game, against LSG in Jaipur, ended in a narrow loss. Half-centuries from Aiden Markram and Ayush Badoni pushed through a top-order collapse while Abdul Samad blitzed the bowling with four sixes in the last over to give LSG a defendable total. The Royals had the best start possible as Yashasvi Jaiswal and 14-year old Vaibhav Suryavanshi put in a strong opening partnership.

Jaiswal looked on track to finish the chase but his dismissal led to a mini-collapse, triggered by Avesh Khan. Avesh came back to defend nine runs off the last over against Dhruv Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer. Avesh dismissed the latter halfway through the over and eventually defended four runs off the last ball through his excellent yorkers.

In addition to improving their standing, RR will also be gunning for revenge as the reverse fixture in Jaipur resulted in a comfortable win for RCB. Yashasvi Jaiswal's excellent fifty found no support as RCB's bowlers stifled the batters. In response, Phil Salt slammed a powerful half-century and put RCB on the victory path. Kohli gave him the required support and Padikkal put in the finishing touches on an easy chase.

Player Battles to Watch Out For in Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Rajasthan Royals:

1. Virat Kohli vs Sandeep Sharma

This one is among the most bowling0friendly matchups in IPL history. Kohli has made 116 runs in 81 balls at a strike rate of 143.20 against Sandeep, but has been dismissed seven times at an average of 16.57. Notably, he was dropped off Sandeep's bowling earlier this year, which could have made it eight dismissals already.

2. Yashasvi Jaiswal vs Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Jaiswal is pretty much the only RR batter not woefully out of form in this tournament, and his brilliance will once again be needed considering his good record against Bhuvneshwar. In 54 balls in IPL, Jaiswal has made 94 runs against the pacer at a strike rate of 174.07 without ever being dismissed.
