With a towering six off Pat Cummins ahead of the clash between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Mumbai Indians (MI), Indian cricket legend Rohit Sharma reached a significant milestone by becoming the latest entrant into the elite 12,000-run club in T20 cricket.

Known for his aggressive stroke play and effortless six-hitting, the opener has consistently been one of the most dominant openers in world cricket. The right-handed batter achieved this feat in his 443rd T20 innings, making him the fifth-fastest player to cross the 12,000-run mark in the format. Over his illustrious T20 career, he has maintained an average of 30.81, notching up eight centuries and 79 half-centuries.

In addition to this landmark, the Indian Test captain also set another record ahead of the IPL encounter. The Indian legend surpassed former MI teammate Kieron Pollard to become the player with the most sixes for the Mumbai Indians. Rohit smashed his 259th six for MI, overtaking Pollard’s tally of 258, and now stands as the franchise’s all-time leading six-hitter.

He is followed by Indian batting great Virat Kohli, who achieved it in 360 innings. Australian opener David Warner crossed the mark in 368 innings, while England’s Alex Hales occupied the fourth spot, having reached 12,000 runs in 432 innings.

In the 2025 IPL season, Rohit Sharma had not been in the best of form initially, but he found his rhythm during the recent high-octane clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The Indian opener delivered a match-winning performance, remaining unbeaten on 76 off just 45 balls, laced with four boundaries and six towering sixes. His commanding knock steered Mumbai Indians to a crucial victory over the five-time champions.
