In one of the most explosive contests of IPL 2025 so far, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) chased down a mammoth total of 246 with surprising ease, defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 8 wickets in the 27th match of the season.

After winning the toss, PBKS elected to bat first on a flat Hyderabad pitch, and their batters made the most of the conditions. Young opener Priyansh Arya got them off to a flyer, smashing 36 off just 13 balls. He was well supported by Prabhsimran Singh, who anchored the innings with a quickfire 42 (23). Skipper Shreyas Iyer dazzled with 82 off 36 balls, powering the total with a flurry of boundaries.

Despite the onslaught, SRH bowlers had their moments, with Harshal Patel being the pick of the attack, claiming 4 wickets for 42 runs. Eshan Malinga chipped in with 2 wickets, including the key scalps of Prabhsimran and Wadhera.

Chasing 246, SRH openers came out all guns blazing. Travis Head set the tone with a blistering 66 off 37 balls. However, Abhishek Sharma stole the show, hammering a sensational 141 off just 55 deliveries, laced with 14 fours and 10 sixes. His explosive innings made the chase look like a walk in the park.

Heinrich Klaasen and Ishan Kishan calmly finished the job with over nine balls to spare, taking SRH to 247/2 in just 18.3 overs.

Punjab’s bowlers looked clueless under pressure, with none managing to keep the run rate in check. Arshdeep Singh was the only wicket-taker, while Yuzvendra Chahal, despite picking up Head, was expensive.

With this commanding victory, SRH climbed to number 8 on the points table, giving a significant boost to their net run rate and momentum.
