Virat Kohli scripted history during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, on Thursday, April 24. He became the first batter to cross the 3,500-run mark at a single venue in T20s.

The ace batter reached the historic landmark in only his 105th T20 innings at the Chinnaswamy. Kohli, who has been playing for RCB since the inaugural edition of the IPL, is also one of six batters to have registered in excess of 3,000 runs at a specific venue in the 20-over format (domestic and international games).

The other batters in this list are Mushfiqur Rahim, James Vince, Alex Hales, Tamim Iqbal, and Mahmudullah.

Most runs on a single ground in T20s (minimum of 3,000 runs as of April 24, 2025)

Kohli starred with bat for RCB against RR in Bengaluru

Kohli's stay ended with the former RCB skipper getting to 70 off 42 deliveries. His impressive knock entailed eight fours and a couple of sixes. It seemed as if Kohli was all set to get to his first ton of IPL 2025. However, he ended up spooning a simple catch to Nitish Rana at cover on the first delivery of the 16th over of the innings. Interestingly, it was the first time Jofra Archer dismissed the batting stalwart in T20s.

Speaking of the match, RCB ended up on 205/5 at the end of their 20-over quota. Kohli's 70 (42) was the highest score for the hosts. Devdutt Padikkal was the other half-century maker for the Rajat Patidar-led side. There were a total of 16 extras, which were conceded by RR. If RCB are able to defend their total, it will mark their first win at home this season.
