India pace bowling star Jasprit Bumrah has had a sensational year in 2024, especially in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024-25). Notably, Bumrah is the current leading wicket-taker with 30 wickets in the four matches he has played and has been the silver lining for the Indian team in what has been a slightly underwhelming tour down under.

There is a lot of praise for Jasprit Bumrah for what he has achieved this season. His red ball stats have been the most iconic so far, where he has taken 71 wickets in the 13 innings he has played in the longer format. Moreover, the 31-year-old pacer has been one of the best bowlers across formats as well.

In the white ball format, Bumrah has played eight matches where he has taken 15 wickets at an average of 8.26 which came in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. These performances from Bumrah have been incredible and he has taken 86 wickets in the 21 matches he has played in 2024, where he has maintained an average of just 13.76 and a strike rate of 26.9. This is officially the best average and strike rate a bowler has in a calendar year which was previously held by Pakistan's legendary pacer, Waqar Younis. Younis took 96 wickets from 28 matches across formats with an average of 14.88 and a strike rate of 29.6.

Speaking of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Bumrah will most likely be in action once again, as the fifth and final Test will be underway in Sydney, on Friday, January 3. Quite Significantly, this will be a do-or-die match for Team India, who have to win the game to retain the series and also keep their WTC final chances afloat to complete a possible hattrick of summit clash appearances.
