Sixth-placed Delhi Capitals (DC) will host seventh-placed Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in what will be the last league-stage match for the former. Neither team is out of the race for the playoffs yet, but DC's hopes are hanging barely by a thread.

Delhi Capitals currently have 12 points from 13 matches and just winning this match might not be enough to secure a playoff spot given their poor NRR. Their plight was compounded in their last match which was against RCB at Bengaluru. DC's bowlers endured a rather poor powerplay as Virat Kohli and Will Jacks put up aggressive performances, but the best performance with the bat in that innings was a fifty by Rajat Patidar, but after he was dismissed, DC managed to crawl back into the game with inspired performances from Ishant Sharma, Mukesh Kumar and Khaleel Ahmed to concede just 78 runs in the last 10 overs even as Cameron Green held on for RCB. DC's batting collapsed very early, and despite a fifty by stand-in skipper Axar Patel, no other batsman could stay with him long enough to see DC through as RCB once again put up a team bowling performance led by Cameron Green.

Lucknow Super Giants' playoff chances aren't as bleak as Delhi Capitals, despite being placed lower on the points table, as winning each of their last two games will virtually assure them of a spot in the top four. But, LSG are on a two-match losing streak with the last of them resulting in a public outburst by the team owners on skipper KL Rahul. In their last match against SRH at Hyderabad, LSG started very slowly with the bat, until Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni did their best to push SRH to 165.

But nothing could have prepared anybody for what was about to come, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma started in typical aggressive fashion, and it took them just 9.4 overs to chase down the target of 166 without losing any wickets at all. LSG will be hoping to regroup eventually and get two wins from their last two matches. Losing this match will not put LSG out of the playoff race, but they will want to avoid a three-match losing streak and get back to winning ways.

At the reverse fixture between DC and LSG earlier in Lucknow, LSG's top order collapsed with skipper KL Rahul the only one holding on. Ayush Badoni then scored a fifty to lend respectability to the score. DC though, did not experience many problems in chasing the score down as Jake Fraser-McGurk's fifty was well supported by Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant.

Arun Jaitley Stadium Pitch Report:

Out of the eight innings here from four matches, the lowest team score has been 199. There doesn't seem to be much indication that this will change, so another run-fest will be on the cards. Very high totals above 220 are being defended but only by very narrow margins, given the high scores.

DC vs LSG Strategies & Match-ups:

With the very high totals seen here this season, there might be an indication to bat second, but none of the four matches here have been won batting second even though the victory margins are relatively low. While the first successful chase of this year's IPL at this stadium may not necessarily come, a high-scoring contest will be on the cards with both teams having enough batting firepower to do so. The important match-ups for this match are: David Warner vs Mohsin Khan, Jake Fraser-McGurk vs Yash Thakur, Rishabh Pant vs Krunal Pandya, KL Rahul vs Khaleel Ahmed, Marcus Stoinis vs Ishant Sharma, Nicholas Pooran vs Kuldeep Yadav.

DC vs LSG Player Battles to Watch Out For:

Rishabh Pant vs Krunal Pandya:

Pant has always managed to dominate his battles with Pandya in terms of aggressiveness, at least. With three dismissals, Pant has scored 70 runs in 38 balls at an average of 23.33 and a strike rate of 184.21. With Pant raring to come back after serving a one-match ban, this might be one matchup that could possibly subdue him.

Marcus Stoinis vs Axar Patel:

Stoinis has never managed to get on top of his matchup with Patel in the IPL. From 24 balls, Stoinis has scored just 15 runs at a strike rate of 62.5 while being dismissed once with an average of 15. This matchup in the middle overs could spell trouble for LSG if Patel can dismiss Stoinis.

Nicholas Pooran vs Kuldeep Yadav:

Just like with Stoinis and Patel, Pooran has never dominated Yadav either. Pooran has scored 13 runs against the wrist spinner but has taken 15 balls to do so with a strike rate of 86.67 while being dismissed once at an average of 13. DC's spinners against LSG's middle-order heavy hitters may decide the course of this match, especially because of how the matchups stack.

X-Factors for DC vs LSG:

Delhi Capitals:

As DC return home on a surface likely to be very batting-friendly, Jake Fraser-McGurk with his aggressive outlook at the beginning of the innings will be vital to DC's chances. He was unlucky to be run out in the last match, but he will want to shed that and go back to scoring fifties in under 20 balls again. And the pitch might help him do it.

Lucknow Super Giants:

Since the beginning of the season, LSG's best and most consistent aggressor towards the end of the innings has been Nicholas Pooran. He has been constantly pushing LSG's totals beyond projected values with blitzkriegs at the end and LSG will look up to him to do it once again.
