MI vs RCB, IPL 2024: Records & Stats at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai
Neither team is sitting happy at the points table and will want to register their second win in IPL 2024.
Mumbai Indians (MI) will be playing a third consecutive home game at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, hosting the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). Both teams have just one win this season but RCB have played one match more than MI.
MI made very good use of the batting-friendly conditions to amass 234/5 against Delhi Capitals boosted by Romario Shepherd hitting 32 runs off the last over. Needless to say, they won the match rather comfortably. Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their last match, managed only 183 despite Virat Kohli scoring a century and were outdone by another century from Jos Buttler and went on to lose their third consecutive match.
Currently, Mumbai are placed in the eighth spot in the points table while Bengaluru are placed ninth. Hence keeping the cutthroat situation in mind, they would want to get another two points to improve their dire situation in the ongoing IPL 2024.

MI vs RCB Strategies & Match-ups:
With MI's batting firing on all cylinders in the last IPL 2024 game, letting MI bat first would be a very dangerous ploy in case RCB win the toss. While the confidence to be able to chase a high total in lieu of the batting-friendly Wankhede surface exists, MI's batting contains the firepower to put up a total just out of reach of any team. The important match-ups for this game are Jasprit Bumrah versus Virat Kohli, and Reece Topley versus Rohit Sharma, respectively.
Player Battles to Watch Out For:
Jasprit Bumrah vs Virat Kohli:
Across 15 innings, Jasprit Bumrah has bowled 92 deliveries to the man who was both his first, and 100th IPL wicket. The veteran Indian batting legend Virat Kohli has been dismissed four times by Bumrah so far and has scored 140 runs at an average of 35 with a strike rate of 152.17. Bumrah has been MI's best bowler so far and Virat Kohli is the orange cap holder, this match-up holds the most importance of any other in this clash.
Rohit Sharma vs Mohammed Siraj:
Speaking of another sumptuous battle in the upcoming fixture, in nine innings, the Indian captain Rohit Sharma has hit 68 runs from 52 balls at a strike rate of 130.76 against the talented pacer. Notably, the 'Hitman' is yet to get dismissed. With Rohit adopting a more attacking approach in the powerplay this season, Siraj will be RCB's best bet to combat him.
X - Factors for MI vs RCB:
Mumbai Indians:
Suryakumar Yadav's return to the IPL did not go as planned against Delhi Capitals, but it is not wise to count him out. Among other things, his very good record against RCB is what makes him a very dangerous obstacle that RCB need to overcome in order to have any chance.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru:
Not much has gone right for them this season, but if they are to put up a fight on a batting-friendly surface at the Wankhede Stadium, then Orange Cap holder Virat Kohli is the player they need to look to. Kohli so far is the only batter to be in form for RCB and he will once again be required to employ his extraordinary skills into service.
