New Zealand (NZ) defeated Bangladesh (BAN) comfortably and convincingly by eight wickets in match 11 of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

New Zealand came into the contest having secured solid victories against England and Netherlands in their first two games. Their success can be attributed to outstanding performances of Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra, who showcased their batting prowess in the first match, while Will Young and Ravindra starred in the second. Matt Henry and Mitchell Santner were exceptional with the ball, with three and two wickets against England and three and five against Netherlands.

Talking about the Bangladesh fixture, Lockie Ferguson picked up figures of 3/49 (10) while Matt Henry and Trent Boult snared two scalps each as the Kiwis restricted the Asian side to 245/9 in 50 overs. In reply, the in-form opener Conway scored 45 while the returning captain Kane Williamson amassed 78. Notably, the regular Kiwi skipper missed the opening two games due to injury. Daryl Mitchell remained unbeaten on 89 as the BlackCaps chased down their target in just 42.5 overs.

In the tournament opener against defending champions England, New Zealand chased down the 283-run target comfortably despite Young's early dismissal with the help of Conway and Ravindra's centuries in a nine-wicket win. In the second match, both batters and bowlers delivered excellent performances, securing a resounding 99-run victory over the Dutch.

On the other hand, Bangladesh headed into the contest following a disappointing performance in their last game, where they were comprehensively defeated by England by 137 runs. England posted a massive total of 364 runs in 50 overs. Mehidy Hasan claimed four wickets while Shoriful Islam took three. However, Bangladesh's batting faltered early, with four wickets falling for just 49 runs. Although Litton Das and Mushfiqur Rahim managed half-centuries, their efforts were not sufficient to secure a victory. Bangladesh is keen to regain their rhythm and stay competitive in the tournament.
