After a defeat in the first T20I, Pakistan are set to take on New Zealand (NZ) in the second T20I of the five-match series at the Seddon Park in Hamilton on January 14. This series serves as vital preparation for the T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies in June.

In the first T20I, the Pakistani bowling attack struggled against the Kiwi batting. Finn Allen dominated Shaheen Afridi's opening spell, scoring 34 runs in just 15 balls while Kane Williamson, making a comeback, notched a half-century (57 runs). Daryl Mitchell's power-hitting was on full display too, as he contributed 61 in just 27 balls, helpinh the team notch up a formidable total of 226/8 in 20 overs. Shaheen and Abbas Afridi took threee wickets each whereas nd Haris Rauf claimed two.

While chasing the target, Saim Ayub and Mohammad Rizwan provided quick starts but they failed to convert. Babar Azam also scored a half-century with 57 runs in 35 balls. However, their efforts fell short and Pakistan lost the match by 46 runs as Tim Southee took four wickets, reaching the milestone of 150 wickets in T20Is.

Pakistan would be eager to make a comeback in the second T20I, aiming to level the series early.
