David Warner hammered 163 while his opening partner Mitchell Marsh registered his highest score of 121, as the duo put on a record 259-run stand to take their side to a huge total of 367/9 eventually winning the encounter by 62 runs against Pakistan. Spinner Adam Zampa delivered a solid spell of 4/53 (10), as Australia emerged victorious comfortably in Match No. 18 of the ongoing WC 2023.

Speaking about how the game unfolded in Bangalore, skipper Babar Azam won the toss and elected to field first. Warner got a life as Usama Mir dropped a sitter off the bowling of seamer Shaheen Afridi. The Aussies opener was on just ten but then there was no looking back for him as he brought up his 21st ODI century. The swashbuckling batter scored runs heavily all around the Chinnaswamy stadium along with Marsh. Warner faced 124 deliveries in his knock which included 14 fours and nine sixes. Marsh also slammed ten fours and nine maximums as the pair showed no mercy on their opposition.

Seamer Shaheen Afridi was the pick of the Pakistani bowlers for his spell of 5/54 (10). Chasing a massive target of 368, the Pakistani opening duo of Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq started off brilliantly as they added 134 runs. The former amassed 64 while Imam got dismissed for 70. Captain Babar managed to score only 18 as he has now racked up just 83 runs in this WC so far. Mohammad Rizwan continued his solid form before getting dismissed for 46. Pat Cummins and Marcus Stoinis picked up two wickets each as the Men in Green got bundled out for 305 in 45.3 overs. For his scintillating century, Warner grabbed the Player of the Match award.
