Afghanistan (AFG) and the Netherlands (NED) will meet each other in match No. 34 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atul Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on November 3.

Afghanistan will enter the contest on the back of their third win against Sri Lanka; they have defeated three former world champions in the form of England, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. With three wins and three losses in six games and are placed in sixth position.

They have played beautifully as a unit, with Hashmatullah Shahidi, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, Rahmat Shah and Azmatullah Omarzai all scoring more than 200 runs in six games. In the bowling department, Rashid Khan leads the chart with seven wickets, while all Fazalhaq Farooqi, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Naveen-ul-Haq have picked six wickets each. Afghanistan will look to carry their winning momentum in order to grab the semi-final berth.

Netherlands will come into the contest on the back of their second win over Bangladesh last game; they defeated South Africa and surprised Bangladesh in the last game. With two wins in the seven games, they are placed eighth in the table above England and Bangladesh.

Scott Edwards has been their go-to batter for the Netherlands as he has so far aggregated 204 runs in six games at an average of 51, while Sybrand Engelbrecht and Colin Ackermann have scored 164 and 152 runs, respectively. In the bowling department, Bas de Leede has picked up 11 wickets, while Paul van Meekeren has picked ten, and Logan van Beek has picked nine. Netherlands, too will look to continue their winning run so as to go deep in the tournament.
