The arch-rivals, Australia (AUS) and England (ENG) will meet each other in match No. 36 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 4, 2023.
Australia will enter the contest on the back of four consecutive wins in their last four games after losing the first two. They not only have won matches but have done it in grand fashion by posting a humungous total of over 350 for three consecutive games. David Warner has been in sublime form for Australia; he scored two consecutive centuries and one 81 in the last game, while Travis Head announced his return after injury with a scintillating century against New Zealand.
Steven Smith and Marnus Labuschagne, too, had a good outing recently. With eight points in six games, they are placed third in the table. In the bowling department, Adam Zampa has been phenomenal and has picked up 16 wickets in six matches, 15 of them coming in the last four games with three four-fers and one three-wicket haul. Aussies will miss the service of their all-rounders Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh due to injury and personal reasons. Five-time world champions will look to carry their winning run.
Defending Champions England, on the other hand, will come into the game on the back of a miserable World Cup campaign as they lost five matches in their six games. They have been on the receiving side in the entire World Cup except for the game against Bangladesh.
They not only lost five games, but the margin they have lost was heavy. They were bowled out below 200 four times in their five lost games. With this performance, their qualification for the Champions Trophy has been very much difficult. They would now look to win all the games with a good run rate to have the hopes of qualifying for the 2025 Champions Trophy. They are currently placed at the bottom of the table
