Australia (AUS) and India (IND) will meet in the 5th match of the 2023 ODI World Cup on October 7, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

India's two warm-up matches were abandoned due to rain, but they will be looking to carry their momentum from winning the series against Australia and the Asia Cup 2023 into the World Cup.

Shubman Gill has been in great touch with the bat, scoring 1230 runs in 20 ODI innings in 2023. However, he has tested positive for dengue and might miss the match. If he misses out, Ishan Kishan is likely to open with Rohit Sharma, who has scored 658 runs in 16 ODI innings in 2023. In the bowling department, Kuldeep Yadav has taken 33 wickets in 16 innings in 2023. India will be looking to win the match against Australia and start their campaign off on a successful note.

On the other hand, Australia will come into the contest after beating Pakistan by 14 runs in their warm-up match. Their other match against Netherlands ended in no result. Adam Zampa has been in some form for Australia, taking 15 wickets in nine ODI innings in 2023 and he will be a crucial bowler at Chennai's spin-friendly wicket. Australia will be looking to win the match and start the tournament on a positive note.
