15-year-old Ankit Chatterjee created history as the teenager made his Ranji Trophy debut in Bengal's Group C clash against Haryana at the Bengal Cricket Academy Ground in Kalyani. With his debut, the left-handed top-order batter broke former Indian legend Sourav Ganguly's long-standing record.

Ganguly made his First-Class debut at the age of 17 during the final of the 1989-90 Ranji Trophy. The youngster, a 10th-grade student at Bangaon High School, recently made waves in age-group cricket. His impressive performance for Shyambazar Club earned him a call-up to the playing XI for Bengal at the age of 15 years and 361 days.

As for the ongoing fixture, Ankit remains unbeaten on 5* at the end of Day 1's play. A fantastic six-wicket outing with the ball by Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal helped Bengal skittle Haryana on a score of 157 in 44.5 overs. Apart from Ankit Kumar who scored a half-century, none of the other batters could register a substantial score.
