Team India skipper Rohit Sharma, one of the all-time great white-ball openers, was born on April 30, 1987, in Nagpur, Maharashtra. The star player, who has won two ICC titles with his country, the T20 World Cup 2007 and Champions Trophy 2013, has been enjoying a decorated and glorious career in which he holds several world records in both T20 and ODI formats.

The right-handed batter made his international debut for India by featuring in an ODI against Ireland in Belfast in 2007. Rohit’s debut in the shortest international format came against England in the T20 WC 2007 in Durban, where he did not get a chance to bat. However, he immediately showed glimpses of his talent when India faced South Africa at the very same venue.

He scored an unbeaten 50 off 40 with seven fours and two maximums as India won the contest by 37 runs, with Rohit also grabbing the Player of the Match award.
