RR vs MI, IPL 2024: Records and Stats at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur

Match No. 38 is a repeat fixture, and will mark the beginning of the second half of IPL 2024. Table toppers Rajasthan Royals (RR) will host the sixth-placed Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur. Rajasthan Royals have won six of their seven matches while MI have three wins from seven matches. 

RR's most recent match was against Kolkata Knight Riders in Kolkata, where they equalled their record for the highest successful chase in the history of the IPL. That win will rejuvenate RR's spirits and put them in a comfortable position.

In their last match, MI huffed their way to 192 against Punjab Kings in Mullanpur before having PBKS on the mat in a roller coaster chase that went from a certain MI win to a possible PBKS win to finally an MI win by just eight runs. MI haven't had much success in this tournament and they will take whatever they can. 

In the reverse fixture which was held at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, RR contained MI to just 125/9 in the 20 overs and promptly chased it down in less than 16 overs. MI will be hoping to settle the scores and possibly steer their misfiring season into something respectable.

The track in Jaipur has been one of the most bowler-friendly surfaces in the IPL. The dearth of totals above 200 is a reflection of this fact. Even in the 2024 season of the IPL, the team totals have been at the lower side compared to what other stadiums have been showing so far even though the lowest first innings total in four matches here is 183.

In 65 balls, Buttler has scored 62 runs at a strike rate of 95.38 while being dismissed twice at an average of 62. This match-up might just be the single most important deciding factor, especially in the powerplay. 

Yuzvendra Chahal vs Suryakumar Yadav:

Known for his aggressive penchant, Suryakumar Yadav has been rather quiet against Chahal so far in the IPL. In 71 balls, he has scored 83 runs at a strike rate of 116.9 and has been dismissed thrice to have an average of 27.66. If Chahal can win this matchup, MI's batting might just get derailed. 

X-Factors for RR vs MI

Rajasthan Royals:

England white-ball skipper Jos Buttler seems to have found his form back, and coupling that with his very good record against MI, he will be the most important threat in MI's way. 

Mumbai Indians:

Mumbai's bowling has been blowing hot and cold this season, but Bumrah has been the most consistent weapon this attack. His services will again be required especially if MI are bowling second with the track record at Jaipur.
