Gujarat's Urvil Patel scripted history by scoring the second-fastest T20 century, mauling Tripura on his way to a belligerent unbeaten 35-ball 113 at the Emerald High School Ground in Indore in the ongoing edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Chasing 156, Urvil motored his side to a prompt eight-wicket triumph with 58 deliveries in the bank.
The record for the fastest T20 hundred stands with Estonia's Sahil Chauhan. He brought up the milestone in just 27 deliveries against Cyprus in June this year. Urvil's feat is the quickest for an India, having beaten Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant's record. Pant brought up the three-figure mark in 32 balls against Himachal Pradesh in January 2018 in SMAT.
Urvil's blazing knock comprised seven fours and as many as 12 maximums. Four of those 12 were clobbered against opposition skipper Mandeep Singh, who relocated from Punjab before the start of the current season in a bid to participate in all the three formats. Six of the remainder were equally distributed over the covers and in the "V" down the ground.

Urvil recently made his way into 50-over record books as well, as he smashed a scintillating 41-ball century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy on November 23, just a day after the Gujarat Titans had released him.
Urvil was bought at his base price of INR 20 lakh ahead of the 2023 edition, but did not make any appearance for the Titans. In fact, his name was in uncapped wicketkeepers category in the mega auction of the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League. However, his name did not come up at the spectacle in Jeddah.
