Veteran wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim recently registered his name into the history books by becoming the first Bangladeshi cricketer to surpass 6000 Test runs.
The historic feat came during the final session of Day 2 of the ongoing first Test against South Africa at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. The 37-year-old reached the landmark in his 93 Test match and surpassed the figure with a boundary off South African spinner Keshav Maharaj's bowling.
Bangladesh Cricket took to their social media handle to congratulate Rahim on becoming the first player of the nation to record this iconic feat.

Mushfiqur Rahim unbeaten on 31
Walking to the crease after captain Najmul Hossain Shanto's dismissal for 23 in the second innings, Mushfiqur remained unbeaten on 31 after the stumps were called on Day 2 of the clash. Meanwhile, in the ongoing game, the hosts are fighting to overcome a first-innings deficit against South Africa.
After being dismissed for just 106 in their first innings, where Mushfiqur contributed 11 runs, the side were trailing by 202 runs following Proteas' total of 308. Mushfiqur's partnership with Mahmudul Hasan Joy has helped steady the ship, with Bangladesh reaching 101/3 at stumps on Day 2.
As the country's leading run-scorer in the longest format of the game, his contribution has been instrumental in Bangladesh's growth as a Test-playing nation, after receiving the Test status in 2000.
