Star India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal is undoubtedly one of the biggest prospects in team India’s arsenal. Showcasing his talent in the shortest format, Jaiswal has quickly risen through the ranks and has managed to make his way into India’s Test set-up.

With his stellar performances in the longest format, Jaiswal has become the fourth-highest run getter in Test cricket history after the first 10 matches. With 1094 runs to his name, Jaiswal has broken into the list of elite company, which also includes former Australia cricketer Sir Don Bradman.

It is worth noting that only Don Bradman (1446), Everton Weekes (1125), and George Headley (1102) scored more runs than Jaiswal after playing 10 Test matches. In the ongoing Test match against Bangladesh, Jaiswal played a tenacious knock of 56 runs in the first innings and added 10 runs in the second, which saw him break into the elite company.

It is also interesting that before Jaiswal, the record for the most runs scored by an Indian after 10 Tests was held by Sunil Gavaskar, who amassed 978 runs in the first 10 matches in the longest format.

India continue to dominate Bangladesh

Speaking of the ongoing game between India and Bangladesh, it has been smooth sailing for team India ever since the latter stages of Day 1. After Bangladesh put in a good showing and troubled India’s top order in the first innings, R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja played magnificent knocks, helping the hosts to a total of 376 runs in the first innings.

To follow it up, India followed it with just as impressive performance with the ball. Jasprit Bumrah put in quite the show with the ball, helping India in bundling out the visitors for just 149 runs in the first innings.

By the end of Day 2, India once again posted 81 runs in the second innings, maintaining a good amount of lead against the visitors. The side will aim to trouble the side with the bat and post a big target for Bangladesh to chase.
