Dominant Team India (IND) will square off with visitors Bangladesh (BAN), in the second match of the ongoing three-match T20I series, on Wednesday, October 9, in Delhi. Notably, the upcoming fixture will be played at the renowned Arun Jaitley Stadium, which is situated in the national capital of the country. Interestingly, the second T20I game will hold a special significance for the T20I Captain, Suryakumar Yadav.

Yadav currently has accumulated 2,461 runs in his T20I career from 73 appearances so far. Hence, in the Delhi game, Mr 360 aka Sky will have a golden chance to script his name in the history of T20I in Indian cricket. Star batter Virat Kohli who recently bowed out from the format after becoming a world champion, scored 4,188 runs for India. Now even though Suryakumar is still not close to the overall tally, another record is waiting for him knocking on the door.

Notably, Kohli who retired on June 29, earlier this year, scaled the 2,500-run landmark in his 73rd appearance for the Men in Blue, Sky is just 39 runs shy of equalling Kohli's record to become the second fastest batter along with the legendary batter in the format, while playing his 72nd game. Pakistan's batter Babar Azam was the fastest batter to have piled up 2,500 runs in T20Is. Notably, Babar achieved this feat in 67 matches.

Suryakumar Yadav chasing sixes record, captaincy win record

Speaking of Suryakumar Yadav's international cricket career, the Mumbai-based batter made his T20I debut for Team India in 2021. In his latest outing, he played a quick cameo (29 off 14 balls) in the opening T20I game of the series against Bangladesh in Gwalior. His knock involved three sixes and two boundaries, respectively.

Besides, if Suryakumar manages to hit at least six maximums in his next outing, he then will surpass West Indies' explosive batter, Nicholas Pooran. Courtesy of this event, he will become the third batter with most sixes in the T20I format. Until now, Sky has smacked 139 sixes, while Pooran has 144 sixes to his name after featuring in 98 T20Is.

When it comes to the overall sixing hitting tally, Team India's ODI and Test Captain Rohit Sharma rules the six-hitting fest. The World Cup champion skipper has smashed 205 sixes from 159 appearances for the Men in Blue. Following him, New Zealand's Martin Guptill is in the second spot with 173 sixes from 122 T20I games.

Meanwhile, Team India are undergoing a transition phase after Rohit Sharma along with Virat Kohli decided to bid adieu to the shortest format after winning the T20 World Cup, held in West Indies earlier this year. Post that, Suryakumar Yadav was handed the reigns to take the caravan ahead and build new superstars for the side. As a Captain, Sky has led the Blue Brigade in 11 T20I matches, where he tasted victory on nine occasions while losing only two games.

Hence, if the hosts win the Delhi game, Yadav will level with star all rounder Hardik Pandya, who has 10 wins against his name as a leader. Consequently, Suryakumar will become the fourth most successful Captain of Team India in terms of winning ratio, after Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Pandya, respectively.
